2020 – the year that took the world by storm and changed everything. The year went by in a blink of an eye in moments and felt like far more than a year at other points. Everyone will look back on this year and have stories to tell. As we say goodbye to 2020 and welcome in 2021 we are ready to embrace what the new year brings with positivity, acceptance that more change is inevitable and a positive outlook that the best is yet to come. Being able to do a round up of the best moments of 2020 is such a perfect way to sit back and look at the year as a whole. It is an incredible reminder of how much love paved through all the unknown of the year.
This year was one that will never be forgotten in the wedding industry. Weddings came to a screeching halt in early Spring and couples were left to get really creative on how to be able to include their family + friends, finding new spaces for their venue and we began to see the original core values of the wedding industry – the focus on the couple and their love for one another. We saw people begin to use technology to virtually invite their friends and family from around the world to join them on their celebrations so that no one had to miss out. I saw couples get to have their actual dream wedding as COVID had allowed them to downsize to just the guests they really wanted and have it in their dream space. I saw love conquer all throughout the pandemic which just goes to show that love will never be cancelled no matter what is going on in the world. It is one of the strongest forces out there.
I have to thank all of my incredible couples for making that leap of faith and choose to get married in the midst of a global pandemic no matter what the world threw at them. I was still able to document 24 beautiful elopements and intimate weddings with 21 of those being after March, when the pandemic hit Canada. The strength each one of my couples that was impacted and every couple that was planning to get married in 2020 was absolutely incredible. I felt all the emotions alongside you, helped in every way I could to find a new venue space, new vendors, and brainstorm to make everything possible and I have to say every wedding that took place this year was absolutely magical.
