Some love stories are so perfectly timed, so full of genuine surprise, they feel like they could only exist in the movies—and this was one of them.
When Jaimie reached out to me to plan a surprise proposal for her partner, Taby, during their trip to Ontario from Chicago, I was immediately excited. She wanted something quiet, beautiful, and deeply personal for Taby’s first visit to Muskoka. We landed on the perfect setting: a peaceful cottage stay at Muskoka Riverside Escape, nestled along the Muskoka River with a private dock and cozy, romantic vibes.
The plan was set. After a dinner out, the two would return to the cottage where I had laid out rose petals along the path to the dock. The air was warm, the lake was calm, and the stage was set.
As they stepped onto the dock at sunset, Jaimie got down on one knee and asked Taby to marry her.
But then—surprise number two.
Without missing a beat, Taby reached into her pocket and pulled out a Kinder Surprise toy capsule, revealing her own ring for Jaimie. (Jaimie loves Kinder Surprises, but since they’re banned in the U.S., Taby had picked one up when they arrived in Ontario to make her own proposal perfect.)
They both proposed.
They both said yes.
And yes—there were happy tears all around.
What followed was an evening full of joy, celebration, and the kind of golden light that makes Muskoka feel like magic. We explored the property and captured candid, love-filled moments with:

- Bonfires and roasted marshmallows
- A few jumps into the river to end the night off perfectly
These are the moments I live for—unscripted, emotional, beautifully imperfect, and real.
