What is better than just the two of you and your pups for your elopement day? That is exactly what it was like to Dip and Pam for their Haliburton Elopement at Kabin Paudash Lake.
Crafting an elopement day is not as hard as one would think. I often start off with the question what would a date day or a 'just us' day look like to the two of you. I encourage all of my couples to start with that and make a list of things that you love to do together and for Dip and Pam that looked like spending the afternoon hanging out, enjoying each other’s company and playing with their dogs.
When it was time to get ready for their Haliburton Elopement I was blown away with a super unique and fun fact about Dip and Pam. When Pam bought her dress months prior, it was way too big and barely fit her. Dip took it upon himself to figure out how to tailor and alter a dress, and he did it for her. I couldn’t believe it — if that doesn’t scream husband material, I don’t know what does.
They got dressed together when the time came but they still opted to have a first look because they wanted to make sure their day was no less special. And of course, the dogs got to be involved too, and they loved it!
After their first look, we headed down to the dock for their vows dock as the sun started disappearing in the distance. After their heartfelt handwritten vows and taking a few moments to just be together Dip and Pam popped champagne and ate cake under a beautifully decorated picnic space that was created by a good friend of mine, Primp and Pop. Afterwards, they wandered the property, strolling through a forest walkway filled with string lights, before heading back down to the dock as the sun’s slanting rays gave way to the most gorgeous golden hour.
It was so beautiful, I encouraged them to do their first dance on the dock to really soak in this moment for them. As they danced to their favourite song the entire world felt like to held its breathe and was a perfect moment in time for them. The only thing you could hear is the gentle waves hitting the shore and the birds singing off in the distance.
Even though elopements are about throwing traditions the way of the wind, I love to encourage couples to include aspects of traditional weddings, or any unique details, that they want. Many couples do love to incorporate a first dance, but often ends up being in a less traditional setting like on the dock at Kabin Paudash Lake.
They continued to dance the night away while dinner was being prepared for them back at the cabin. Dip and Pam opted to have a dinner cooked and prepped for them while we were out enjoying our time around the cabin so that they didn't have to fuss or worry about cooking when it was time for dinner. It is little details that I love to encourage couples to add to their day to make it feel that much more special!
Enjoy Dip and Pams beautiful Haliburton elopement at Kabin Paudash Lake.
