I've spend a lot of time in Banff all the way up to Jasper but I have never had the chance to explore the Kananaskis area very much. I have always just driven through without stopping too much enroute to Banff but on my next trip out to Alberta I will be spend a heck of a lot more time out in this beautiful area! Driving through this dreamy area has so many incredible views we were left absolutely speechless and awestruck the entire drive. We had the craziest weather as we headed down the road going from total sun to massive thunderstorms but like the saying goes if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes and it'll change and that it did! When we finally pulled into our first stop the sun began to peak out behind the clouds and the rain cleared up for this incredible Kananaskis engagement session.
I had the chance to photograph Sarah + Jordan's first engagement session back in November when Chris and I were out exploring the Rockies which you can check out their winter session here! We originally had intended to do a more extensive hike that night but sun was setting fast and we saw it set behind the mountain range before we had gotten very far into our hike so we decided we were going to continue the next day for a sunrise session instead! Instead of hiking we decided to explore a few other areas along the path and capture the dreamy sunset as it set the mountains a glow. As the night got dark and there was no more light this incredible Kananaskis engagement session came to an end. We headed back to Banff for the evening to get a short sleep before waking up the next morning for a 3am wake up call in order to catch the sunrise. Check out the second part of Sarah and Jordan's engagement here!
