One of my favourite things about travelling is getting to experience a new area and getting to document the beautiful areas I am exploring. Once in a while when we are travelling we get the opportunity to meet up with other incredible of photographers that either live locally or by chance happen to be travelling in the same place at the same time! While we were travelling through the beautiful country of Iceland we had the opportunity to meet up with Macy of Macy Hartman! She was living in Iceland for three weeks doing a work-away living on a farm getting to see how Icelanders live and helping out locals all while getting to explore this incredible country of fire and ice. I was so excited to have a piece of our Iceland adventure captured as it is one of the hardest things while travelling is getting photos of Chris and I beyond the neverending selfies we take! So I was so thrilled to meet up with Macy and spend a few hours exploring with her!
We met up at Skogafoss which if you had not had the opportunity to look at photos of this insanely beautiful waterfall do it now! This beautiful waterfall often gets a rainbow on a sunny day and gives off the moodiest of looks on overcast days. Skogafoss is one of the popular waterfalls many visit while on their road trip on the ring road. Chris and I had so much fun running and getting totally soaked from the mist of the waterfall but it truly was worth every minute! We laughed, ran around and just took in the extreme beauty of not only the waterfall but everything that Iceland has to offer. To be able to see so many waterfalls while in Iceland people often think you will get fed up seeing waterfalls but trust me this was one of our last days on our trip and I still loved every single one of them and was awestruck with how different each one way.
After playing and getting soaked at Skogafoss and we headed into the car and went to a place that was extremely special to me – the waterfall I got to hike out to only seven months earlier for one of the most romantic proposals I have experienced. You can check out the surprise Iceland proposal here and you won’t be sorry you did! I was so excited to share this special spot with Chris after telling him so much about it on our Iceland adventure.
It was such a unique experience to be able to hike back into that waterfall and see it in a different season. It really was so green! On our way we stopped to admire the Alaskan Lupine’s that had just taken over some areas on one of the hills on the hike in. I was obsessed with these pretty purple flowers that are actually a non-native plant that came to Iceland in the 1940’s and is slowly turning the country purple.
If you ever have the opportunity to get your adventures documented while you are travelling whether it be to a different area in your own country of where you live or while you are travelling overseas it really is such an incredible way to capture your travels with your love one. Thank you again to the sweetest Macy for capturing our Iceland Adventure!
