It is not very often that I shoot in the Hamilton area but when I do I absolutely love it! Shooting in steel town is always such an incredible experience, Hamilton has become a city that used to not have the best rep and is really becoming a trendy place to live and explore. The Spice Factory is one of those really cool wedding venues that I absolutely love to shoot at. When I asked Mercedes and Cody why they choose this venue they said it was the “exposed brick, edison bulbs hanging from the walls, it’s dark and romantic.” That describes the Spice Factory to a tee! This Spice Factory Summer wedding was truly one that was filled with so much love, laughter and good vibes I was so grateful to be apart of their incredible day.

One of my favourite things about this Spice Factory summer wedding was how Mercedes and Cody decided to do their own portraits and wedding party photos. Mercedes, Cody and their incredible wedding party went to three different of their favourite spots to hang out in downtown Hamilton. These places held a special place in Mercedes and Codys heart and are also becoming staples in the Hamilton city. Our first stop was to Donut Monster, a very popular donut shop downtown Hamilton that if you have no had the chance to visit and are a donut lover you definitely should! After sharing some delicious, freshly baked donuts we headed over to Merit Brewing! Here at the craft brewery everyone clinked their beer glasses and said cheers to the soon to be wed couple. One of the best thing about doing your wedding party photos this way is it truly captures the group in the most candid, raw way possible. It allows everyone to enjoy their time together, share laughs and you can truly get some of the best photos of out it. I had the best time documenting this group and you can see how much they truly are having in the photos. Our last stop was to Chocolat on James where everyone shared candy skewers, chocolate and so many delicious sweets. It truly was something that was so incredibly unique and I encourage all couples to do something like this.

If you are looking for something different for your wedding party photos or your portraits this is definitely something I could not encourage you to do more. By having an activity to do with your group or just the two of you it is so much more fun and allows for authentic moments. I am here to help you brainstorm up ideas if this is something you would love to do this find you great places that fit your vision and who you are as a couple!
