My final wedding of 2018 closed out this incredible season with quite a bang! Kristel and Alex reached out to me with so many dreams and big ideas it made me so incredibly excited for their big day to come. When I first met Kristel and Alex for their wicked engagement session at Cabin on the 9 in Caledon I knew we would instantly be friends. They had the biggest hearts and even bigger laughs – they were absolutely hilarious and never stopped smiling the entire day both at their engagement session and on their wedding day. Kristel and Alex’s wildly romantic wedding at District 28 was a day filled with energy, excitement and nothing but laughs and joy from the moment I walked into Kristels family home that morning to the electric dance floor at their reception. One of the things I really loved about this wedding was they merged their love for the outdoors by having their first look along the beach on Lake Ontario and then having their reception at District 28 – a modern and unique wedding venue that gives you the ability to make the room completely your own since the rooms are completely white! You can paint the walls to suit your theme or let simplicity of the tables and decor pop and speak for themselves. District 28 also doubles as a film studio when not being used for an event!
Kristel + Alex merged their family traditions alongside your typical North American wedding by holding a Chinese Tea Ceremony where Kristel wore a stunning red Chinese dress and heels. I absolutely love being able to experience different cultures and really enjoy when couples find a way to bring in their culture or traditions to their wedding day. It makes the day both special and truly their own.
Their reception space at District 28 was hands down one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever seen. The pure white walls with subtle uplighting made you focus on the details of the rustic but modern settings on the table which were so intricately decorated. Their reception was filled with so many heart-warming speeches the room was left in tears from every speech. Alex’s mother son dance even brought tears to my eyes as at the end of their dance they hugged one another and both began to cry as they embraced. It truly was such a heart warming moment to see how important family is to both Alex and Kristel from the beautiful words said about them and support provided all throughout the day.
As the dinner came to a close Kristel and Alex invited everyone on to the dance floor for one final surprise. Once everyone was on the dance floor one of Kristel and Alex’s favourite songs came on and everyone started dancing a confetti canon went off and everyone was ecstatic. If you could freeze happiness and joy it certainly was this moment in time as the confetti fell over everyone as they kicked off dancing the night away. It was one amazing party that lasted well after I left. Thank you Kristel + Alex for welcoming me along with your most wonderful families to such an incredible day it is one I will not soon forget. I wish you so much love and happiness. xo.
